Accountability & Participant Protection

Policies built for safe, fair, and credible training.

These public summaries explain the standards that guide Sandywood Institute’s trainers, employees, contractors, participants, and partners.

Implementation status

This framework is an implementation draft pending owner signature. Applicable law, contracts, grant conditions, and licensing rules control where they set a higher standard.

Ethics & trainer standards

Trainers and representatives must act honestly, maintain professional boundaries, protect confidential information, use respectful and developmentally appropriate practices, disclose conflicts, represent credentials accurately, and follow applicable law and contract requirements.

Safeguarding & mandatory reporting

Child safety comes first. Personnel must follow supervision, health, safety, privacy, and professional-boundary requirements. Suspected child abuse, abandonment, or neglect must be reported promptly as required by the law that applies to the reporter and setting. In Florida, reports may be made to the Florida Abuse Hotline at 1-800-962-2873; call 911 for immediate danger.

Equal access & accommodations

Sandywood does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, ethnicity, religion, sex, pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, disability, genetic information, veteran status, or another status protected by applicable law. Participants may request reasonable disability, language-access, religious, or other legally required accommodations.

Respectful learning environment

Harassment, intimidation, retaliation, exploitation, and abusive or disruptive conduct are prohibited. Good-faith safety, ethics, discrimination, compliance, or grant-fraud concerns may be reported without retaliation.

Privacy, technology & media

We collect only information reasonably needed to provide services, document participation, meet legal or funding duties, and improve quality. Access is limited by role. Personal information, photographs, recordings, testimonials, and participant work are not publicly used without appropriate notice and permission, except where law permits or requires disclosure.

Attendance & certificate integrity

Attendance, identity, participation, assessment, and completion records must be accurate. Certificates are issued only when published requirements are met and may be corrected or withdrawn if issued in error or obtained through misrepresentation. Sandywood does not award the national Child Development Associate® credential. A course is not represented as state-approved or as awarding IACET CEUs unless that authorization is specifically documented for the offering.

Complaints, grievances & appeals

Send a clear description of the concern, relevant dates, people involved, and the requested resolution to Sandywoodinstitute@gmail.com. We aim to acknowledge a complaint within 3 business days and provide a written decision normally within 15 business days. A written appeal may be submitted within 10 business days of the decision; a final appeal decision is normally issued within 15 business days. Safety concerns may require immediate interim action. Confidentiality is protected as far as practical, but cannot be guaranteed when investigation, due process, funder duties, or law requires disclosure.

Good-faith reports are protected from retaliation.

Participants, staff, trainers, contractors, and partners may report suspected misconduct, conflicts of interest, misuse of funds, falsified records, discrimination, harassment, privacy concerns, or safety risks. Reports may be anonymous, although anonymity can limit follow-up.
